Driving Lessons
Many people who are hoping to take and pass their driving test to obtain a full driver’s license will take driving lessons. Whilst it is not a perquisite that people who going to take a driving test have had driving lessons it is often considered wise as most driving instructors are professionally trained and have a high level of knowledge about the content of the driving test. There are several major motoring companies that can provide driving lessons. They employ instructors, but many of them such as BSM operate on a franchise basis allowing instructors to lease a car from them which will then be used to teach driving lessons. However many people prefer to take driving lessons with an independent instructor as the instructors working for the big companies are often not as qualified.
Driving lessons are mostly comprised of a practical element, although some aspects of driving theory will be discussed. The instructor will guide the pupil along public roads during the course of a driving lesson, overseeing their performance and ensuring they drive safely. The cars that driving instructors use for driving lessons are always equipped with dual controls. There will be a clutch and a break pedal on the passenger side so if the instructor has to take control and stop the car then they can. Driving lessons vary in price, although they are usually around £20 per hour; however the fluctuating price of petrol can change these costs.
